Success is?

By Annie Robinson

Success, what does it mean to you? By definition it is the attainment of a worthy goal or ideal. It is the yardstick by which the whole world it seems, measures its self esteem. Yet, there is no-one on this planet that cannot achieve total success and realise their potential. The only difference between achievers and non-achievers is what you know and whether you take appropriate action.

We all have different ideas of what constitutes success, for some it is $50,000 for others it may need to be $200,000 and for others it may be something undefinable like fame, or love. No matter what our idea of success is, until we know and understand the keys to it, it is out of our reach.

One of those keys is to set goals, these goals cannot be dreams or wishes that have no substance, but must be attainable and measurable. Another big aid to success is a passion for what you are doing. Passion will take you where motivation and will power will not.

These four keys will enable the first two to keep you on track toward any goal you have no matter how large or seemingly out of reach. Remember it is only out of reach, if you have not paved the way.

1. Attitude: most of us need an attitude adjustment. Having a positive attitude comes from believing in your product or service, remember we talked about passion. If you are in a job, career or business for the money and because it seems like a good idea and have no passion for it, you will not be successful. It is this attitude of positive belief that will cross over to your customers, bosses and clientele and motivate them to buy (on whatever level) your product.

2. Expectation: do you expect to be successful? Do you expect your next idea to boost your career or business? What you expect usually comes to be, it is just the way the world works. Why? Because we are able to open our inner prioritising (or search) software to new opportunities and possibilities when we expect success, we see fresh solutions and fresh leads and have a more open perspective on life as a whole. It is this that divides the successful entrepreneurs from the unsuccessful ones.

3. An extraordinary work ethic: Your work ethic needs to be, "I will do the things other people will not do." This often means stepping out of your comfort zone, but it is well worth it. What work ethic does not mean is working 20 hour days, or doing jobs that you do not do well. Always set aside time for the self to renew and re-energise, it is just as important as working and always, always know what you do not do well and delegate.

If you read this and put these things into action in your life, you cannot hope to be anything other than a total success and reach your potential along the way.
